Gauss Quadrature
U. von Matt
Chapter Chapter 18 in Solving Problems in Scientific Computing Using Maple and MATLAB®, 1997, pp 251-279 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract In this chapter, we study how to compute Gauss quadrature rules with the help of Maple. We consider the integral (18.1) $$\int^{b}_{a} f(x) \omega(x) dx$$ where ω(x) denotes a nonnegative weight function. We assume that the integrals (18.2) $$\int^{b}_{a} |x|^{k} \omega(x) dx$$ exist for all k ≥ 0. Additionally, we assume that ω(x) has only a finite number of zeroes in the interval [a, b] (cf. [20, p. 18]).
