Abstract:
Abstract According to Pretes (1995), “contemporary society is dominated by spectacle. Tourism sights, whether natural or man-made, are spectacular” (p. 4). Debord (1996) described this phenomenon in his book “The Society of the Spectacle” (first published in 1967) as follows: The entire life of societies in which modern conditions of production reign announces itself as an immense accumulation of spectacles. Everything that was directly lived has moved away into a representation (p. 2).
