Chapter 6 in Architectural Tourism, 2014, pp 165-169 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The objective of this book is to contribute to the knowledge of the mutual interdependencies between tourism and (contemporary) architecture. In this context the research aimed at findings regarding the role of contemporary architecture in (urban) tourism destinations. By putting the discussion into a broader context some important interrelationships with other disciplines could be achieved. At the same time the contextual view disclosed the complexity of the enquiry and demonstrated how broad this objective is. As a result, a first important finding was that there is no such thing as “the” role of contemporary architecture in urban tourism destinations. Instead, contemporary architecture can play a multitude of important roles.
