Start-Ups for Digitalisation

Thomas Schneider

Chapter 16 in Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence, 2023, pp 93-99 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The task of controlling is to manage the system of innovations, of change, not individual projects. The task is to identify possible paths to success that do not guarantee success, but at least reduce the risk of failure. The corporate structure, not the corporate culture, is the decisive feature. Controlling is challenged to find the right organizational form. From the internal R & D department to pure capital participation or the takeover of a start-up, there are many different forms. Two criteria are decisive for the organizational form: the proximity to the application, the concretization of the use of the innovation, the uncertainty of the success, or better expressed the fluctuation range.
