Chapter 14 in Successfully Managing Complex Companies, 2023, pp 137-146 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract In Chapter 14, the meta-tasks of simplification and synergy creation are discussed. First, the understanding of the two tasks is clarified. It is shown that the two tasks are not independent of each other but are partly in conflict with each other. In a framework, five sub-tasks are distinguished: (1) synergy creation in the market positions of the businesses, (2) simplification through the elimination of unimportant businesses, (3) synergy creation through cross-business resources, (4) simplification of processes, and (5) simplification of the organization. Finally, the responsibilities of the supervisory and executive boards in relation to simplification and synergy utilization are clarified.
