Chapter Chapter 3 in Breaking Free from the Chains of Role Ascriptions, 2024, pp 25-47 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Functional or dysfunctional family systems of origin provide us with clues as to how the power of daughters can unfold later in their job or partnership. Women learn from the example of their mother and father. They adopt their assertiveness or adaptability and orient themselves according to the parental messages they receive. Mother and father can be positive or negative role models—depending on how they themselves live out relationships. Parents pass on their beliefs and values to the next generation, thereby influencing their thinking, actions, and behavior.
