Data Protection (Privacy)
Thomas Liedtke ()
Chapter Chapter 3 in Information Security, 2024, pp 41-79 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Privacy/data protection is a matter of law. Characteristics and data protection objectives differ from those of information security. Personal data and special categories are defined. Important articles of the EU General Data Protection Regulation are explained. The processor and the controller ensure that personal data is processed only on the instructions of the responsible parties. Privacy Engineering is a special discipline of Systems Engineering. Privacy-by-Design is the process of several technological and organizational components for the implementation of confidentiality and privacy/data protection principles. Analogous to information security, there are methods for threat modeling. LINDDUN is one of them. Information security and privacy are different disciplines that do not exclude each other.
