Abstract: Abstract This paper deals with the study of the center of a q-analog of the plactic algebra, the quantum pseudoplactic algebra defined by Krob and Thibon in [3]. We prove that the center of this algebra is reduced to the algebra generated by one polynomial, the so-called quantum elementary symmetric function of maximal weight.
