Chapter Chapter 33 in Proceedings of the 19th International Symposium on Advancement of Construction Management and Real Estate, 2015, pp 397-406 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This paper explains the meaning of ethical decision-making of engineering, providing an outline of the ethical decision-making process, in which each part is analyzed in detail. We come to the conclusion that stakeholder is the body of ethical decision-making, including owners, contractors, financing units, quality supervision department and eco-environmental protection department, etc. The ultimate objective is to satisfy the stakeholder and maximize the engineering value. Ethical decision-making process should be democratic, that is, implementing group decision-making method. It’s also essential to pinpoint the decision-making content and build a reliable evaluation model, which could help reduce subjective and qualitative decision-making, thus derive more objective and quantitative decisions. This paper offers decision-makers and managers of engineering a theoretical reference for ethical decision-making management.
