Chapter Chapter 6 in Blockchain Technology for Business Processes, 2022, pp 149-171 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Disruptive! New! Better! Adjectives that are mentioned in connection with blockchain technology are endless. They often describe a hype, and blockchain technology has seen some hype in its short existence. The different token models that can be used for different purposes are described below. The initial offering models are presented that are used in addition to the issuance of the respective tokens for capital allocation. Since new variations of token models are added over time, a key basis, namely the so-called ERC20 token, is considered in more detail in connection with the ERC721 token of Ethereum. This makes it possible to better understand the new trend 2021: so-called non-fungible tokens (NFT). Furthermore, it is explained how digital central money (CBDC; Central Bank Digital Currency) is to be located in this context.
