Abstract: Abstract Since the Romans built enormous aqueducts, fortresses, port facilities, border walls, and bridges throughout the empire – from Scotland to the Caspian Sea – they must have had sound knowledge of logistics, engineering, and architecture. However, no creative mathematician is known to have been active during Roman times. Mathematics was only an auxiliary science for Roman surveyors (Agrimensors), engineers, and architects.
