Abstract: Abstract The Neoplatonic Academy in Athens was closed in 529 by Emperor Justinian I (reign 527–565). Two of the remaining teachers Simplicius and Damascus (from Damascus) went to the court of the Persian king Chosrau I with others, but left after only one year. All but one returned to Athens.
