Plato

Dietmar Herrmann ()

Chapter Chapter 7 in Ancient Mathematics, 2022, pp 85-103 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract In the Peloponnesian War against Sparta (431–404), Athens suffered a severe defeat. Around 429 BC, there was a devastating epidemic, which was long believed to be the plague; however, newer research suggests typhus. During this difficult time, Plato was born into a distinguished Athenian family in 427 BC and received a careful education for his future as a politician.
