Abstract: Abstract By analyzing the state of the art and taking into account the restrictions imposed by patent law, particularly third-party patents, it is possible to develop or further refine proprietary technology to market readiness. The state of the art, that is, patents, patent applications, and utility models held by third parties, can be researched using the extensive database “DEPATISnet.dpma.de” provided by the German Patent Office.
