A chapter in Complexity and Diversity, 1997, pp 132-134 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Dynamics of defects and double localized traveling waves (DLTW) in a large-aspect-ratio L=46 and in a strongly nonlinear regime with a separation ratio ψ= −0.47 have been studied by the simulation of full hydrodynamic equations and by the experiment. We find that a defect structure can be formed by two different processes, and remarkably influences the structure of the DLTW. The length of the DLTW is a function of the reduced Rayleigh number r.
