Chapter Chapter 5 in A First Course in Ordinary Differential Equations, 2014, pp 119-144 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract In Chap.5 systems of first-order differential equations are studied. For low-dimensional systems, elimination techniques using the D operator and Laplace transforms are presented. For larger systems, the matrix-vector notation is used and the solution of the homogeneous system is represented on the basis of the eigenvalues of the corresponding characteristic equation. For the determination of a particular solution of the inhomogeneous system, the method of variation of constants and the method of undetermined coefficients are described.
