Abstract:
Abstract In this chapter, we discuss the definition of Engineering and Management and synthesize both to get the definition of Engineering Management. We look at the overlap between engineering and management and the interdependence of the two. We also discuss the historical development of engineering management. We look at the various management levels and the responsibilities at each level. We then understand the various roles of a manager and how each role influences the overall objectives of the company. Lastly, we take a brief journey through various management thoughts and their influence on our understanding of management.
