Chapter Chapter 1 in The Special Theory of Relativity, 2014, pp 1-10 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Chapter 1 discusses the limitations of Newtonian mechanics and Galilean transformations. Some examples related to Galilean transformations have been provided. It is shown that laws of mechanics are invariant but laws of electrodynamics are not invariant under the Galilean transformation. Also given is a brief discussion on absolute frame.
