Abstract:
Summary Our main goal is the presentation of modelling of processes in combustion engines. The modelling was motivated by the aim of computing the production of nitrogen oxides during the work cycle of such engines. For that purpose, the flow of compressible gas in the engine is modelled first. Then a model of heat and mass transport follows and lastly a model of the chemical reactions is developed. For modelling of flow, the mixed hybrid finite element method is used; the other models are modelled by the finite volume method.
