Abstract:
Abstract The total pessimism pervading the pages of The Book of Disquiet does not spare even science. According to Fernando Pessoa, human life has no meaning at all and thus every attempt of knowledge is just a play at dusk, as crazy as wishing that the clouds would stand still in the sky. If mathematics is spared from this absolute decree, it is only because it deals with nothing.
