Abstract: Abstract The idea of organizing a workshop on geometrical and algebraic structures of differential equations, the Proceedings of which are now in front of you, arose in summer 1992, when one of the editors (P.K.) was visiting the other editor (J.K.) in Moscow. The basic idea was to bring closer and intensify activities of mathematicians and mathematical physicists doing research in this field. The decision was taken that it would be a small workshop for specialists and the choice of the main part of participants was made for this reason by the organizing committee. We are glad that so many of them accepted the invitation to participate.
