A chapter in Biomathematics and Related Computational Problems, 1988, pp 187-196 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This article deals with the description of a mathematical feature of the series of indices of secondary growth for a particular species of pine tree, Pinus uncinata. The attention is focused on the shape of the power spectrum of these series, and the spectral roll-off is proposed as a measure of the response to the long period perturbations of the environment, in addition to the first autocorrelation coefficient, which is usually taken as an indicator of the long term fluctuations.
