A chapter in Biomathematics and Related Computational Problems, 1988, pp 639-648 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Some recent results on the behavior of oscillatory media with a gradient in frequencies are described. Both continuous reaction-diffusion models and discrete nearest neighbor coupling are studied. Some mechanisms underlying the loss of phase-locking are discussed and differences in the strength of coupling are contrasted.
