Chapter S3 in Numerical Techniques for Engineering Analysis and Design, 1987, pp 553-562 from Springer

Abstract: Summary An effective h-version finite element adaptive strategy combined with mesh regeneration is presented, which is based on the error estimator developed in [1]. The rate of convergence of the adaptive procedure has been tested for two examples. A very strong convergence has been observed. Unlike some existing h-version adaptive procedures, a nearly optimal mesh and predicted accuracy can be obtained in one or two steps of mesh regeneration.
