Abstract:
Abstract The parametric and non-parametric estimation of functional relations is an important part in mathematical statistics. We give in the first part an approximation procedure to surfaces which are defined on a p-dimensional region and are observable (disturbed with some noise) according to an experimental design. This procedure is a preliminary-classification approximation and includes the choice of joint hyperplanes for the construction of multivariate splines. In this procedure we compose a global approximation by local fitted functions.
