Chapter 1 in Multicriteria Analysis in Engineering, 2002, pp 3-42 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This Chapter is about the method of design variable space searching and its potentials. The aim of the method is to assist the designer in formulating and solving engineering optimization problems. This method has found wide applications in solving numerous problems of choosing optimal design variables of machines, mechanisms, and structures, as well as in other practical areas. This method is also known as the Parameter Space Investigation method or PSI method.
