A chapter in Optimization and Inverse Problems in Electromagnetism, 2003, pp 93-100 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Benefits of optimization techniques applied to magnetic component design are discussed here, using a comparison between an industrial hand-based design process and a methodology based on constrained optimization techniques. The results show dramatic design time decrease, as well as design process improvements in terms of reliability and formalism, which has to be balanced against encountered difficulties.
