Chapter 1 in Handbook of Production Economics, 2022, pp 3-48 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract To emphasize the nexus between the theory and the empirics of production, this chapter is split into two parts. The first presents a brief overview of the state of neoclassical production theory as it exists in the third decade of the twenty-first century. The second part presents an overview of the history of the development of functional forms for the production function.
