Abstract: Abstract Augustus De Morgan (1806–1871), the founder President of the London Mathematical Society was born in Madurai of Madras Presidency (South India) on Friday, the 27th June, 1806. His father was associated with the East India Company. His great-grand father James Dodson (died 1757) was the author of Anti-Logarithmic Canon (1742) and Mathematical Repository (1755).
