Abstract: Abstract There are a number of important basic functions extensively used in reliability and survival data analyses. This chapter defines some of these functions that will be applied in the later chapters. These include probability density function, cumulative density function, reliability or survival function, hazard function, and mean life function. This chapter also derives the interrelationships among these functions.
