Chapter Chapter 1 in From Food Scarcity to Surplus, 2021, pp 1-6 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract India, China and Israel have all undergone a lot of economic chaos and conflict for decades and centuries. They also experienced a number of of famines, claiming huge numbers of hunger deaths. However, in the recent years, they all have exhibited striking economic success stories, particularly in their agricultural fields, that has helped these nations to transform from food scarcity to surplus. In this introductory chapter, we discuss in detail that how these economies stabilized their nations, and how their agricultural sector progressed over decades under different economic models. Specifically, it talks about various sorts of technological innovations, policy interventions and institutional changes they made overtime. Because, their experience can be useful for many other developing countries that are still struggling to achieve food security for all.
