Abstract: Abstract In spite of unfavorable international environment, HSBC Bank (China) Ltd. has expanded rapidly in China. The chapter analyses the relationship between HSBC Bank (China) Ltd’s net profit and its risk management strategy. It analyses the factors that affect operational efficiency of banks in China. It focuses on the role of Chinese state policies in shaping the operational efficiency and transformation of commercial banks in the country. The chapter captures the strategies and transformations of in Chinese banking industry for last four decades.
