Abstract This chapter provides a brief introduction to intercultural competenceIntercultural competence and cultural neuroscienceCultural neuroscience. We explore the psychological construct of self-construalSelf-construal, and how self-construal can be primed in the brain by using “I” or “we” pronouns. We introduce the concept of neurocultural leadershipNeurocultural leadership, and how a more agile and strategic use of pronouns can make organizational communication more effective. We’ll also look at an excerpt of a famous political speech by Barack Obama to understand the power of pronoun agility in engaging audiences.
