Abstract: Abstract Female entrepreneurs have shown innovative approaches to support the nation during recent COVID-19 pandemic. However, due to ongoing civil war and unstable political situation, Libya’s economic and social condition are at stake. The age-old patriarchy and stereotypical perception still restrict women’s mobility and women still face numerous constraints to generation of human, social and financial capital. Men are considered the main drivers of economic development and the contribution of women are yet to receive full recognition. Although Libya has achieved freedom from the autocracy of Colonel Gaddafi but establishing efficient local Government is essential for political stability and economic and social development including strengthening women’s status in the labour market.
