Chapter Chapter 7 in A Commissioner’s Primer to Economics of Competition Law in India, 2023, pp 207-235 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract ‘Turf wars’ the phrase that captures the tussle between Competition Commission of India (CCI) and Sectoral Regulators is an unsettled dispute. In Chapter 1 on Regulation and Competition, the precedence of regulatory commission in public utilities electricity, telecom and natural gas over CCI blurred the distinction with attempts at overreach into competition and markets. A rethink on the role of sectoral regulators and their interface with CCI is suggested.
