Chapter Chapter 2 in Understanding China's Economy, 2021, pp 27-43 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Chinese GDP has grown by an average of 9.9% per annum in the three decades or so since the launch of the Reform and Opening. Although the Chinese economy has previously been afflicted by rising unemployment and inflation, and is still beset by increasing income inequality, but the rapidity, health, and stability of its growth are beyond doubt. This chapter will answer the following questions: What is the internal logic that underpins the Chinese economic miracle? How should China’s potential growth rate be understood? And how much longer can China continue to grow?
