Chapter Chapter 6 in The Financial Trilemma and Cross-border Bank Crisis Management in ASEAN, 2025, pp 229-238 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Chapter 6 concludes the monograph by summarising key findings from Chapters 1-5 on cross-border bank crisis management in ASEAN. It revisits the financial trilemma framework, which highlights the tensions among financial stability, financial integration, and national sovereignty. It emphasises that ASEAN states tend to prioritise their national interests during crises, potentially undermining regional stability. The chapter synthesises lessons on the roles of soft laws, government networks, and legal frameworks in mitigating systemic risk in cross-border bank crises. Building on these insights, it provides seven recommendations for an ASEAN bank crisis management framework.
