AbstractThis chapter is based on three instead of one article. Their titles are: “Why Everyone Is Wrong About Stablecoins” by Christian Catalini, published on Forbes in 2024, “The Race to Dominate Stablecoins” by Christian Catalini and Jane Wu, published in Harvard Business Review in 2024, and “On the economic design of stablecoins” by Christian Catalini and Alonso de Gortari, published on Social Science Research Network in 2021 (https://doi.org/10.2139/ssrn.3899499). Christian, a Research Scientist at MIT, Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer of Lightspark, and founder of the MIT Cryptoeconomics Lab, kindly agreed to summarize their joint work and serves as the corresponding author for this chapter.
