Chapter Chapter 1 in Empathonomics, 2025, pp 3-17 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract “Never judge another man until you have walked a mile in his moccasins”—the aphoristic native American proverb efficiently explains the fundamental nuance of empathic behaviour. While empathy is and will remain a complex polysemic psychological construct, a benevolent feeling with fellow humans is the fundamental and central ideation of empathy around which the ensuing discussions of this book will be woven. This ideation is not unique per se and most studies on empathy have been related to prosocial and altruistic behaviour (Maibom, 2017). What makes this discussion unique to an extent is its structured attempt to connect empathy with, arguably, one of the most unforgiving areas of social science-economics.
