Chapter Chapter 3 in Cooperatives and the Market Economy, 2025, pp 39-51 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Now that capitalist and cooperative firms have been properly defined, this chapter elaborates on the analytical approach by which we compare the two types of privately owned firms. An important purpose of this elaboration is to renew our understanding that the institutional framework for cooperatives has not necessarily been designed to be conducive to economic efficiency, and that within this institutional framework cooperatives have had to respond to market forces.
