Chapter Chapter 16 in The Palgrave Handbook of Breakthrough Technologies in Contemporary Organisations, 2025, pp 197-207 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter provides a viewpoint about the promise, the challenges, and the possible outcomes related to the adoption of information and technology systems. The mere implementation of technology does not necessarily equate with corporate success. We first distinguish between two models of technology adoption, the historical and the person-centred models, showing their respective fit to different strategic contexts. We also explore the accelerating trends of AI use, in the context of permanent change, and the consequences for company strategy. We propose a new horizon for a balanced combination of both perspectives, in what we call the Human-Centred & AI model. This model combines a strategy, and high-level technology core operational area (the AI factory), with a flexible, versatile, interactive combination of nodes that evolve and adapt according to the needs of today’s volatile markets.
