Chapter Chapter 29 in The Palgrave Handbook of Breakthrough Technologies in Contemporary Organisations, 2025, pp 373-385 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Fintech today has created novel financial solutions that have changed the global landscape significantly. It uses the latest technologies, such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, blockchain, and analytics, to streamline processes, create unique business models, and enhance business accessibility. By creating innumerable opportunities for businesses and entrepreneurs, it has transformed the financial sector, such as banking, insurance, and investments. It has also addressed sustainability issues relating to the environment, the society, and the larger economy by promoting financial inclusion and bringing the underserved segments into the main foray. This chapter focuses on Fintech’s specific role in advancing innovation and addressing prevailing sustainability concerns of poverty, marginalisation, livelihood problems, and exclusion. Besides, it discusses a few particular cases of Fintech firms that have made a significant impact socially, environmentally, and economically. Finally, the chapter also explains how regulatory frameworks are being developed to impart financial stability and consumer protection.
