A chapter in The Synergistic Effect of Sustainable Business Practices on Corporate Performance, 2025, pp 141-157 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Green bonds, with a total issuance of $3.143 trillion, have become essential instruments for funding sustainable development and combating climate change. This chapter analyzes their exponential growth, including $328.1 billion issued in 2024, and examines regional trends, highlighting Europe’s leadership ($1383.3 billion) and Asia-Pacific’s rapid growth (61.25%). Case studies, such as Yes Bank’s green bonds financing 3.61 GW of renewable energy projects, underscore tangible benefits like CO2 emission reductions. The integration of green bonds into global stock exchanges enhances their visibility, liquidity, and adoption. This analysis establishes green bonds as vital financial tools for advancing a low-carbon economy and fostering global sustainability.
