Chapter Chapter 10 in Changing Dimensions of Financial Services and Banking Regulation, 2025, pp 151-184 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract The finance industry is experiencing rapid transformations due to technological innovations, necessitating constant adaptation. Regulators face the challenging task of keeping up with these developments, which extend beyond financial practices to encompass organizational structures. Effective regulation must address innovation comprehensively, considering not only technical aspects but also social and financial impacts from the outset. Over time, regulators must broaden their scope to include emerging areas that could affect financial services, such as AI, technical and non-technical innovations, and digital currencies like cryptocurrencies. This chapter explores the regulatory landscape surrounding these innovations, emphasizing the need for proactive measures to mitigate potential risks and ensure stability in the financial sector.
