Abstract: Abstract This chapter overviews the birth and the development of global value chain (GVCs) during the second unbundling of economic globalisation, which was emerged and driven by the advances in ICT since the mid-twentieth century. Regional approach towards international rule setting on digital trade will help Asian counties handle with opportunities and challenges brought about by digital transformation of the global economy.
