Chapter Chapter 1 in Finite Element and Reduced Dimension Methods for Partial Differential Equations, 2024, pp 1-170 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract To discuss the existence of generalized solutions and finite element (FE) and mixed FE (MFE) solutions for partial differential equations (PDEs), we need to use the basic principles of functional analysis including generalized derivatives and Sobolev spaces, which are bases for the numerical analysis of PDEs.
