Abstract:
Abstract Agriculture is beset or hampered by many problems that have led to higher prices for alternative goods, creating both opportunities and risks for small farmers and youth. This decline in agriculture requires a new strategy to support agricultural development. Therefore, agripreneurship as a new concept in the field of agriculture connotes a market-oriented agriculture focused on promoting rural development and sustainable agricultural solutions. The review study is based on a literature review and case studies on recent research studies which entail the concept of agricultural entrepreneurship, types of entrepreneurial opportunities in agriculture, factors that influence entrepreneurial opportunities, challenges, and future directions to agricultural entrepreneurship. This chapter is aimed at increasing agripreneurship among students and academics strengthening and enhancing both entrepreneurial thinking and problem-solving skills leading to a sustainable agricultural system for reducing unemployment among graduates in developing countries. It also attempts to develop a curriculum that will trigger agripreneurship-taught classes in higher Institutions to increase youth participation in agripreneurship, employment creation, educational innovation, and improve food security and sustainability. The review has shown that entrepreneurship education is an important factor in reducing the level of unemployment and improving food security and sustainability. These findings highlight the importance of agripreneurship in contributing to better performance of youth-owned agribusiness, entrepreneurial opportunities, reduction in poverty index, ensure good nutrition and food security.
