Abstract By the early 1970s, there was a degree of conflict occurring in Australian cricket, especially between the playersPlayers, whose real level of payments was declining, and the administrators of the game who wanted to keep costs down. Technological changes such as the expansion of air travel and television broadcasting were also having an impact on the game, which helped to add to the stresses.
