The “One Size Fits All” Role Disaster

Mansoor Siddiqui

Chapter Chapter 6 in The SAP Security Governance Handbook, 2026, pp 93-111 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Within SAP access design, one of the most persistent misconceptions is the belief that a single, broad role can solve operational bottlenecks. On the surface, it appears efficient: one request instead of many, one approval instead of multiple, one provisioning step that instantly equips an entire team with “everything they need.” In fast-moving environments, this approach can feel like the perfect shortcut.
