A chapter in The Garment Economy, 2023, pp 307-317 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter investigates the use of computer information systems (CIS) in Bangladesh’s ready-made garment (RMG) industry. It also focuses on the potential challenges that could arise during the implementation of CIS. This is a literature review-based study that has been prepared based on recent relevant papers on using CIS on RMG in Bangladesh. The main findings revealed that CIS is a critical competitive tool for ensuring the seamless and effective operation of RMG in Bangladesh. Furthermore, one of the significant problems in implementing the CIS to RMG in Bangladesh is a shortage of trained and motivated employees to conduct the CIS’s functions. To carry out the activity properly and efficiently, regular training is required and some motivational packages for people associated with CIS applications. Finally, higher authorities and policymakers will get a comprehensive picture of the benefits and drawbacks of implementing CIS in Bangladesh’s RMG industry.
